Our Projects and Initiatives

- Current Project -

Yarmouth Community House at 179 East Main Street

This historic Town-owned building is currently underutilized and in need of renovation. The goal is to raise $250,000 in private and grant funding to create a safe, accessible, and flexible space for community services, classes, meetings, and events.

Proposed Improvements

  • Expand the Medical Loan Closet with improved safety for volunteers and clients.
  • Create ADA accessibility, including a new rear access ramp.
  • Widen doorways and equip a fully ADA-compliant restroom.
  • Update lighting, improve acoustics and include a space to gather informally on a regular basis, for example, a drop-in center to be staffed by volunteers.
  • Add a southeast-facing deck for outdoor use.
  • Include flexible, modular furnishings to support multiple uses.
  • Make better use of an existing, Town-owned structure.
  • Another public-private partnership with Friends of Yarmouth providing the financial support for the renovation and the Town of Yarmouth taking on the management of the project.
  • Currently in the planning stage.
